CAMPAIGN & ELECTION LAW COMPLIANCE & ENFORCEMENT
The firm specializes in and has extensive knowledge of laws and regulations governing the operation of California and Federal candidate committees, ballot measure committees, PACs, independent expenditure committees, and major donors. The firm counsels clients on these laws and regulations, and represents persons involved in enforcement matters before the California Fair Political Practices Commission and the Federal Election Commission. The firm is also familiar with campaign laws in other states. The firm also specializes in state, federal, and local election laws, and has experience in working with elections officials in the interpretation and administration of those laws. In addition, as detailed below, the firm has a full-service staff to assist with report preparation and administrative matters required by campaign and election laws.
LOBBY LAW COMPLIANCE
The firm specializes in and has extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local lobby laws, and advises clients on the prohibitions and disclosure provisions under those laws. As with campaign activity, we also represent clients in enforcement actions with regard to lobby law matters. In addition, as detailed below, we have a full service staff that can prepare or assist in the preparation of all federal and California State and local lobby disclosure reports.
CAMPAIGN, PAC, LOBBY AND ETHICS REPORTS ADMINISTRATION & DISCLOSURE
The firm has a full-service staff that can prepare or assist in the preparation of all public campaign filings, payroll filings, and tax filings, as required by state, federal, or local law. Firm personnel are available to act as campaign treasurers, and to handle administrative matters, including the receipt of contributions and the expenditure of campaign funds. The firm’s staff is also available to prepare or assist in the preparation of federal, California State, and local lobby disclosure reports.
NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHMENT, LEGAL COMPLIANCE & ADMINISTRATION
The firm counsels clients in the establishment, operation, and dissolution of nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit organizations that satisfy the requirements of Internal Revenue Code Sections 501(c) (3), (4) and (6) are a firm specialty. In addition to acting as general counsel for nonprofit clients, the firm can serve as the administrator of the organization, maintain the organization’s records, handle payroll, and prepare and file the annual informational returns. We can also assist in the compliance with the California Nonprofit Integrity Act of 2004 and the requirements imposed under it by the Attorney General.
GOVERNMENTAL ETHICS COMPLIANCE
The firm advises Federal and California public officials and designated employees regarding conflict of interest and ethics matters. The firm also assists Federal and California public officials and designated employees with the preparation and completion of Statements of Economic Interest.
